National Model Code Committee on Performance-Based Solutions

This was the committee's first meeting, focused on orienting members to the process as well as their roles and responsibilities.
The scope of the National Model Code Committee's (NMCC) work is limited to the subjects of earthquake design, egress, and fire including homes and buildings that fall under Part 3 and Part 9
The mandate of the NMCC is to add performance-based options alongside existing prescriptive options and to clarify their minimum level of performance. As well the NMCC has the mandate to review and clarify verification methods and performance targets for existing performance-based solutions.
CHBA is neither a member of this NMCC nor any of the Task Groups, but staff will monitor the relevant committee deliberations and advocate for prescriptive solutions not being neglected in this work.
