National Model Code Committee on Housing Supply, First Meeting

This was the initial meeting of the National Model Code Committee on Housing Supply (NMCC-HS), which has the mandate to remove regulatory barriers for tiny homes, modular construction and for existing homes that are being relocated to a different site. The main purpose of the meeting was the member orientation as to the code development process.
Membership
It seems the NMCC-HS has good industry representation, including some industry members already working with CHBA as well as members who are brand new to the code system.
CHBA staff is an association stakeholder member on this NMCC.
The chair for this committee is Rick Gratton from Brookfield Residential in Calgary, AB.
Task Groups
The NMCC-HS will have three Task Groups
- Task Group on Tiny Homes (BILD-AB staff will be a TG member)
- Task Group on Relocated Buildings
- Task Group on Modular Construction (CHBA Nat'l staff will be a TG member)
NRC staff supporting this NMCC are keen to finalize the membership for the Task Group on Modular Construction and to get this Task Group up and running before September.
