Task Group on Public Comments

Task Group on Public Comments
February 13, 2025
This is the fourth and final meeting of this Task Group (TG). Codes Canada staff recapped the first three meetings which was followed by a member of the Working Group (WG) tasked with clarifying the wording for Proposed Change Form (PCF) 1950 (Protection from Precipitation of the Rough Opening Sills for Windows and Doors) presented their revisions to address CHBA's recommendations made during the previous TG meeting. CHBA and other members had voiced their concerns in past meetings about the confusion with the revised wording in PCF 1950 specifically that changes made by the WG were going beyond the original intent of protecting sills as opposed to the entire rough stud opening The WG provided clarity and the wording in the PCF now specifies, depending on the type of sill protection (e.g. liquid-applied and self-adhered or non-adhesive), the requirements for the second plane of protection (the Appendix note and diagrams were also being revised to reflect this change). PCF 1950 will be sent to the National Model Codes Committee on Climate Change Mitigation (NMCC-Miti) which will hold their first meetings in Winnipeg (and virtually) from February 25 to February 27.
