Task Group on Public Comments

Task Group on Public Comments
February 6, 2025
The working group (WG) that was tasked with reviewing the proposed wording for the Proposed Change Form (PCF) 1950 (Protection from Precipitation of the Rough Opening Sills for Windows and Doors) presented their proposed changes to the Task Group (TG). The members and observers were confused and had trouble following the presented revisions (wrong agenda & revisions were not correctly copied). The intent of the WG to clarify diagrams and wording was clear, however, the execution was unsuccessful. Due to the concerns raised by CHBA that changes made by the WG appeared to be calling for a technical change, Codes Canada staff will reach out directly to CHBA to collect feedback. This is a welcome opportunity to provide clarity and relay concerns that some of CHBA’s members have with PCF 1950. Another meeting will be scheduled to continue the discussion on PCF 1950. Although the members already reached a consensus on PCF 2026 (Operational GHG Emissions: Tiered Prescriptive Requirements in the NBC) to send it to the National Model Codes Committee on Climate Change Mitigation (NMCC-Miti) there were minor editorial changes made in the Grid Emission Factor (GEF) Tables (all mentions of “Any GEF” was changed to “GEF<200”). This editorial change was confirmed by Codes Canada staff to not impact code users complying with the prescriptive path (Nunavut is exempt and the Provincial Grid with the highest GEF is less than 200).
