Task Group on Public Comments

Task Group on Public Comments
January 22, 2025
The meeting started with the continuation of discussions on Possible Committee Actions (PCA) for the Proposed Change Form (PCF) 2026 (Operational GHG Emissions: Tiered Prescriptive Requirements in the NBC) from the last meeting which were recapped, and the remainder of the comments were reviewed by the Task Group (TG). CHBA voiced concerns that many PCAs included wording such as “it will be up to the Provinces & Territories (PTs) to decide” and suggested that Codes Canada compile PTs decisions regarding PCF 2026. Along with support from the Chair, Codes Canada will complete this task and present its findings during future National Model Codes Committee on Climate Change Mitigation (NMCC-Miti) meetings. The TG reached a consensus to send PCF 2026 to NMCC-Miti. PCAs for PCF 1950 (Protection from Precipitation of the Rough Opening Sills for Windows and Doors) were presented and reviewed by the TG, and one of the TG members made recommendations to the proposed code wording that would clarify Article 9.7.6.1. (Installation of Windows, Doors and Skylights). The recommendations were well received however due to time constraints the Chair requested that a Working Group (WG) be assembled to complete revised wording on Article 9.7.6.1. which will be presented at the next Public Review TG meeting. Codes Canada staff reinforced that association members were not permitted to participate in working groups.
