GVHBA’s Coats for Kids Kicks Off its 23rd Year
The holidays are a time to come together and celebrate with family and friends. But for families who are struggling to make ends meet, the holidays are particularly stressful – especially for those with children. In the spirit of the season, Canadians across the country are helping out, including the people who build our communities – home builders, community developers, and renovators – who feel so connected to them.
This year, the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA) is launching its 23rd annual Coats for Kids campaign in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau and Surrey Christmas Bureau, two groups whose many initiatives help to provide a brighter Christmas for families in need.
The Coats for Kids donation campaign is running from November 1-30, 2018. Last year, over 63 GVHBA member companies provided drop off locations for new and gently used coats, scarves, gloves, blankets and new unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages.
To make as big of an impact as possible, GVHBA is engaged with 14 municipal communities around Metro Vancouver. They’re hoping to surpass last year’s donations: close to 6,500 coats, scarves, gloves, blankets and new unwrapped toys for children of all ages. An additional $1500 was raised for the bureaus.
