#CdnBuilt: Homes By Dream Gives Back to Women in their Communities
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2018 and is proud of its history of building and supporting communities across the country.
The holidays are a time for generosity, giving, and goodwill; all things Homes by Dream Regina embodies through their annual Shoebox Project campaign. Since 2014, Homes by Dream has been involved in The Shoebox Project to give back to their communities.
The Shoebox Project was started in Ontario in 2011 by four sisters. Caroline, Jessica, Katy and Vanessa Mulroney recognized that for women who have been displaced from their homes or estranged from their families, the holidays can be a difficult time. At its core, the Shoebox Project provides gifts to women in shelters. The intent is to remind each woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of the community.
Each shoebox is thoughtfully decorated and filled with $50 of little luxuries that women in hard times would likely not splurge on for themselves: chocolates, gift cards, skin care products, and quality soaps. Since 2011, The Shoebox Project has distributed over 130,000 Shoeboxes.
Homes by Dream supports the yearly initiative across Canada in cities they operate in. At their home office in Regina, the team works together to assemble and distribute shoeboxes to women in their local community.
Homes By Dream Regina is collecting shoeboxes until December 7, 2018. You can find more information about the project and drop off locations on their website.
