Written in plain language with details on costs, implementation, and emissions reduction potential for a range of household equipment, the Toolkit is intended to empower homeowners to build a plan for what equipment to replace and when, learn about electric equipment so that they can talk knowledgeably with tradespeople, and spread the word to inspire others to start their own electrification journeys. MPAC Home Energy Rating and Retrofit Report
In 2024, MPAC unveiled their new Home Energy Rating and Retrofit Report, which provides the estimated annual energy consumption, carbon emissions, and energy usage breakdown for single-family attached and detached homes in Ontario. This information can help property owners save on energy costs and reduce emissions. They also supported municipalities with data insights that helped inform energy-efficient plans and climate action strategies. Their data can paint a detailed illustration of current energy usage and identify areas of improvement, leading to stronger local energy conservation efforts. Preparing your business for natural hazards
In 2024, severe weather events caused a record $8.5 billion in insured damage, nearly triple the losses from 2023. With the increase in frequency and severity of extreme weather-related losses, preparation is key to managing your business through adversity – whether it’s wildfires, flooding, severe wind, or snow and ice storms. To help you build long-term resiliency and mitigate potentially significant losses, CHBA Alliance Network Partner, Federated Insurance together with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR), has written a whitepaper that provides actionable tips and checklists to help you safeguard your property so you can resume normal operations quicker in the event of an unforeseen natural disaster. You can download the whitepaper here. For more information on this or other loss prevention topics, contact the Federated Insurance Risk Management Assist service at riskassist@federated.ca or 1.833.692.4112.
