Welcome to CHBA's Net Zero for Building Officials online, self-directed training course. It has been designed to support building officials in understanding the requirements of the CHBA Net Zero Home Labelling Program (NZHLP), how these homes differ from ones built to meet minimum building code, and how builders and energy advisors are leveraging the Net Zero Home Labelling Program to optimize building performance, cost, buildability, and scalability.
Housing in Canada has traditionally become less affordable when there are roadblocks between stakeholder groups, which can often be overcome through communication and training. By taking this course, you’ll learn more about the history and evolution of Net Zero Homes in Canada. You’ll explore technical aspects such as wall assemblies, building envelopes and ventilation systems that underlie the Net Zero Home Labelling Program (and that meet and can exceed the National Building Code 2020 9.36 Tier 4 compliance). You’ll also discover more about regulations, code, and potential by-law variance requests related to Net Zero Homes.
