Canada's premiere awards competition for new homes, renovations, community development, and residential marketing, the 2026 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence is now open for entries! Each year, hundreds of projects are submitted from rural areas and large cities, and from small family-run businesses and larger developers. Categories feature a range of awards for many different types of projects, including BEST CUSTOM OR RENOVATED NET ZERO HOME, and BEST PRODUCTION NET ZERO HOME. Homes entered into the Net Zero Home categories must be labelled through CHBA's Net Zero Home Labelling Program. This session "Above Grade Walls: What are the Options?" explores two distinct approaches. Learn about effective methodologies for exterior insulation systems, as well as interior approaches for both wood frame and masonry walls. Dig into key details when tying in additions, walls to roof, and other critical junction points to ensure continuity of the envelope. Experienced project teams will showcase their strategies to avoid known pain points from the drawing board to on-site.
