Blog Post: Are all energy efficient homes the same?
This month our blog post breaks down the difference between an EnerGuide Rating from the Government of Canada and a Net Zero or Net Zero Ready label from the CHBA in rating energy efficient homes. This helps explain some of the key value propositions of the program to homebuyers.
Visit our website here to read more of our Net Zero blog posts. You can also find and share all our Net Zero blog posts (geared towards consumers) via our four social media accounts; Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, & Instagram. Be sure to share them using @CHBANetZero and #CHBANetZero to get more exposure! Did you know, the more these blog posts are shared, the more potential homeowners and homebuyers will learn about Net Zero Homes and what our industry is doing to tackle climate change?

Grand opening of pioneering parking solutions at EVE Park project
Longstanding Net Zero Council member, s2e, proudly celebrated an important milestone in the commissioning of Canada's first low footprint parking at EVE Park on October 1st. By incorporating the parking towers into the structure of the condo buildings, s2e was able to supply parking spaces for each residential unit, and every resident with a parking spot will be provided with their own charging cable once they have purchased an electric vehicle. Read more about this innovative project here.

NRC Seeks Renovators for Field Demonstrations of Innovative Solutions to Overheating
NRC has launched the Residential Resilience Retrofit program – or in short: R³ (“R cubed”). One focus area of the program is the overheating of existing buildings. NRC has identified a few innovative technology solutions it wants to test in the field, such as exterior shading, solar-powered air conditioning, or the radiative sky cooling system. Another project under the R³ program is investigating how retrofitting balconies in existing multi-unit residential buildings can enhance the heat resilience of the building and improve thermal comfort for occupants. The NRC project managers are still looking for field demonstration participants in the home building/renovation industry for next year. If you are a renovator starting a project next year on a building that has a significant overheating problem and/or includes balcony retrofits, please contact Frank Lohmann. Their construction timeline is for projects in early 2025 to 2026.
