Net Zero Home Labelling Program: 2023 Report Now Available!
In our efforts to provide up to date analysis of the Net Zero Home Labelling Program to our members, we offer annual Program Summary Reports to take a detailed look at the program over time. The purpose of these reports is to support CHBA members’ voluntary adoption of Net Zero Energy Housing by building awareness and knowledge via the consolidation and sharing of information. This annual report details the assemblies and technologies used in the 1,703 homes qualified under the Net Zero Home Labelling Program from the Pilot in 2015-2016 to December 31, 2023, and the resulting performance metrics they achieved. (As of today, we’re at over 2,100 homes!) The annual reports are available free to members (non-members can purchase them) and can be downloaded here.

Builder/Renovator Survey: Effective resilience measures to resist severe windstorms
Please complete the survey by Oct 4
Earlier this year, CHBA partnered with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) to strike the joint Resilient Homes Task Force aiming to create outcomes that can be used to train builders, create demand from homeowners, and inform incentives from insurers for resilience upgrades. The task force is currently studying the effects of severe windstorms like tornadoes through a survey of interested builders and renovators who wish to integrate high-wind resilience into their next projects. The purpose of the survey is to understand which resilience measures are effective for homes, whether builders already routinely apply some resilience measures and if there are alternative measures that are also effective. Please follow this link to help CHBA and ICLR to evaluate about 30 high-wind measures (each evaluated with the exact same set of questions about common barriers to implementation such as cost or market availability). For more information, please contact Frank Lohmann.

Blog Post: Are all energy efficient homes the same?
This month we re-shared a blog post explaining that not all energy efficient homes are the same – which is important for home buyers to understand when you’re selling them a Net Zero/Ready Home!
Visit our website here to read more of our Net Zero blog posts. You can also find and share all our Net Zero blog posts (geared towards consumers) via our four social media accounts; Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, & Instagram. Be sure to share them using @CHBANetZero and #CHBANetZero to get more exposure! Did you know, the more these blog posts are shared, the more potential homeowners and homebuyers will learn about Net Zero Homes and what our industry is doing to tackle climate change?
