Municipal Benchmarking Best Practices & Checklist

CHBA has prepared a Best Practices guide and checklist using the key findings of CHBA’s 2024 Municipal Benchmarking Study. The documents outline best practices governments should consider implementing to improve housing supply outcomes and affordability in communities across Canada. The recommendations are divided into three improvement areas: development charges (DCs), rules and regulations, and the development application process. The guide and checklist are in an easy-to-read format and can be accessed here.

New Resource for HBAs: Short Videos

Discover a growing collection of dynamic short promo videos, perfect for use during dinner meetings, networking events, or whenever you have members together. These engaging clips spotlight CHBA's national programs and initiatives, including the Housing Market Index (HMI), Adaptiv Home, RenoMark, Net Zero, and more. Each video is designed to inform and inspire, helping to answer the question "what does the national level of CHBA do for me?" EOC PDF recap

2025 PDF Recap

The 2025 Professional Development Forum in St. John’s brought together a large group of Executive Officers and HBA staff for two days of valuable learning and connection. Day one featured an immersive media training session led by the Gardiner Centre at Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Administration, covering everything from crafting key messages and building proactive and reactive media strategies. On day two, EOs took the stage to share lessons learned from their regions, ranging from advocacy wins and utility resolution strategies to successful grant applications, impactful community builds, and innovative uses of technology for member and public engagement. The forum offered not just professional growth, but also meaningful peer-to-peer networking in a beautiful setting.

Reminder: Call for Expression of Interest to Host the 2026 EOC PDF

Deadline July 30th
During the EOC PDF, attendees expressed interest in exploring options for Whitehorse for the 2026 event. That said, if there is a local or provincial associations who desires to “host” the EOC Professional Development Forum in 2026, please let us know by July 30. Since CHBA’s Home Building Week in Canada conference will be held in Quebec City in May 2026, as per tradition we would be looking to host on the west side of the country (west of Manitoba) – or in the north! The PDF typically takes place in mid-June. Please indicate your interest by returning the Expression of Interest Form no later than July 30, 2025 to the CHBA National Office at (eoc@chba.ca).

Welcome and Farewell!

With over 50 local and provincial associations, there are always EOs heading off to new opportunities and new EOs joining the family. While there have been no new EOs since last month’s newsletter, we do have a new HBA to announce. The Oxford County Builders Association has recently been added, with Melissa Schenk as the EO.

This email was sent to all EOs and HBA staff in the CHBA national database.
