The 2026 Canadian Renovators’ Council  

The Canadian Renovators’ Council (CRC) met on May 6 in Québec City as part of CHBA’s Home Building Week in Canada. Renovators across the country were well-represented with 17 members in attendance. The Council welcomed the following new members for 2026: Grant Plamondon (Prov. HBA Rep. - AB), Alex Davidson (Prov. HBA Rep - PE), and Jacob Kirst (Medium Local HBA Rep.). 2026 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence - Renovation Winners

The winners of the 2026 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence were announced on May 8 in Québec City during the final event of CHBA’s Home Building Week in Canada. This year’s competition received nearly 200 entries in the 12 renovation categories. In addition to the winners listed below, Ultimate Homes & Renovations was awarded the Renovation Excellence Award for best overall performance in the home renovation categories. They were finalists in 4 renovation categories and won Best Kitchen Renovation under $70,000 in addition to the best-overall accolade. Call for Renovators!

Funding opportunity: Resilient Home Renovation Field Trial 

CHBA and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) are seeking renovators to participate in a Resilient Home Renovation Field Trial focused on reducing risks from high wind, urban flooding, wildfire, and hail. Selected projects will receive expert support including an Integrated Design Process (up to $12,000) plus funding toward resilience upgrades (up to $20,000). Full details are available in the Call for Applications. To apply, submit the completed renovator application and homeowner interest forms by email to CHBA’s Brendon Fraser by May 29, 2026. Final projects will be selected by June 12, 2026.
