Book your hotel & travel for the 2026 EOC PDF!
JUNE 9-11 | Whitehorse, YT The 2026 EOC Professional Development Forum will be held in Whitehorse, Yukon. Expect to learn, network and have fun with your fellow EOs. For EOs arriving early (and we expect many will be based on the flight schedule) we will have optional activities on Tuesday morning and afternoon before things kick off with the Welcome Reception Tuesday evening. This year will be full of panel and roundtable discussions, as we know EOs learn best from each other, while building relationships while integrating the unique location. Hotel information, and a schedule outline, and the registration fee, along with bursary application information for those who show financial need to attend, can now be found on the website. The registration site itself will be opening soon. All EOs are highly encouraged to attend this event. If you need help convincing your Board of the value of attending the PDF, we can support you with a letter from the President of CHBA National.

Inform the 2026-2028 EOC Strategic Plan
YOUR INPUT MATTERS – SURVEY NOW OPEN The EOC is launching a new survey to help inform the 2026-2028 EOC Strategic Plan and we are asking for your participation. This survey aims to capture the challenges you, as an EO, face in your roles, the pressures impacting HBAs as organizations, and where the EOC can provide the most value going forward. We want to know what you need to succeed in your role so that we can direct our resources in the most efficient and effective ways possible. The survey will directly inform the EOC’s activities and plans for the next 3 years. It is how we can ensure the EOC stays focused on the issues that matter most to you as an EO and to the HBA you support. The survey will also allow you to provide feedback on what we’ve been doing so far and provide suggestions from improvements. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey which you can find HERE. Your participation is the key to the success of the EOC.

Women in Construction Week
MARCH 1-7, 2026 Women in Construction Week is taking place March 1-7 and CHBA is planning a week-long campaign to showcase how women are shaping the future of home building and renovation in Canada. With the recent creation of CHBA’s Women in Residential Construction Council, the campaign will bring awareness to the opportunities the sector can offer by highlighting women who are leading by example across the country, all with the goal of strengthening women's representation in the industry. In addition to organic social media, blogs, and videos, a promotional toolkit is available here for HBAs to participate and share widely across your networks.

Updated Resources to Promote CHBA’s National Membership Value
CHBA has a variety of resources to help promote membership, focused on value at the national level. The “How the National Level of CHBA Works for You” brochure, including the Renovator version, has been updated. Also available is a letter to members from CHBA President Curtis Mercer, and a handout with the list of companies offering discounts to you & your staff through the National Advantages Program.

BuildForce Meeting with Industry Re: Labour Market Forecasts
Starting in mid-February, BuildForce Canada began meeting with builders in each province to present their preliminary thinking behind their economic, demographic, housing, and major commercial projects outlook. These meetings are to inform the enhancement of the residential construction labour forecasts, beyond the 34 trades and occupations currently reported by BuildForce. These forecasts are used by federal and provincial policymakers and are a key tool in illustrating the chronic labour challenges the sector faces. To ensure that members interests are represented, HBAs are encouraged to participate in order to provide BuildForce with your local/provincial members’ actual experience of market conditions, which is not always captured by data and economic models. Thank you to the HBAs who have or will be participating. If you would like some additional background information or your HBA would like to participate, please email Evan Andrade, CHBA’s Economist.

January and February EOC Call Recaps: Roundtable Discussion
In the January EO call, an update was shared on CHBA’s “Enabling Tiered Codes – Implementation and Market Preparedness” project, which is offering training rebates for members looking to upskill their teams – a great value-add for membership retention and recruitment. There is a marketing tool kit available to help you promote the training rebates or discounts. We also discussed the new Renovation Market Index (RMI) and ongoing RenoMark renewal status, and it was noted that non-renewing members were to be removed from the RenoMark website after January. During the February Call, there was a debrief on CHBA’s Day on the Hill and information about Women in Construction Week (see story above). The call recordings/recaps are available in the HUB.

Reminder: Award of Honour
Award of Honour Certificates are your chance to have two of your local HBA members receive recognition at the national level of CHBA. Recipients will have shown dedicated service and made contributions to promote the mission and objectives of the Association within your local/provincial association. You may appoint one individual from a new home builder/renovator/developer member company, and one individual from all other categories of membership. The individuals will automatically receive the award (no judging process). We will mail a certificate to you so that you can present it to your members however you see fit. Please email your appointed recipients’ names and companies as soon as possible.
