Reminder: Please Complete the EOC Survey
YOUR INPUT MATTERS – 2026-2028 EOC STRATEGIC PLAN
This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard as we develop the strategic plan for the Executive Officers’ Council for the next few years. Please take about 5 minutes to share what your priorities and pain points are. Hearing from more EOs will help ensure the results reflect the needs of the council and help us direct the activities, resources and programming of the EOC. You can find the survey here.

Pause on Building Codes: CHBA Action and Resources
The 2025 National Building Codes were produced on an unusually compressed timeline with a high volume of major changes, limited implementation supports, and insufficient attention to cumulative cost impacts – with more decisions made behind closed doors, less uptake of industry input and with little effort to ensure that all provinces can adopt all national changes. CHBA has been leading the charge at the federal level calling for a pause on building codes, and providing information and collaborative support to provincial HBAs who are urging their governments to pause adoption In support of this, CHBA has produced a white paper, policy position document, a letter to the Prime Minister, and a letter to Provincial Ministers (for provincial associations to use at their discretion). While code adoption is the domain of provincial governments and HBAs, these resources are available to other EOs and HBA staff here for those who want to learn more on the subject.

Women in Residential Construction Council: Call out for Members-at-Large
CHBA's Executive Committee recently approved updated Terms of Reference for the national Women in Residential Construction Council (WIRCC) to officially establish a Management Committee made up of the existing representatives. As part of that process, we are now accepting applications from HBAs to nominate Members-at-Large. To nominate a representative, HBAs must have a local WIRCC (or equivalent) or are demonstrably involved in activities to support women in residential construction. Applications are limited to one member per HBA. EOs who are interested in nominating a Member-at-Large for CHBA's WIRCC, please review the Terms of Reference and email Emily Fielden, WIRCC staff lead, for the application form.

March EOC Call Recaps
The March EOC call featured an update on the new Renovation Market Index (RMI) that was recently deployed by CHBA. The RMI is a sentiment indicator, assessing current renovation activity, expectations for renovation activity over the next six months, and the level of client inquiries and project pipelines. Building on the success of the HMI, it is an added advocacy tool for CHBA to use on behalf of renovator and trade contractor members. Also discussed: there will be a call organized for the EOs that have municipalities that have partnered with CMHC on their housing catalogue coming soon. A discussion on Bill C-4 GST Relief was followed by roundtable talks. The call recording is available in the HUB.

2027 EOC Professional Development Forum
Reminder: 2026 PDF IS POSTPONED In case you missed the email last week, the EOC Management Committee made the difficult decision to postpone the 2026 EOC PDF in light of feedback from EOs and a review of anticipated attendance – participation was much lower than what is optimal to deliver engaging, EO-led discussions and peer learning that make the PDF so valuable and successful. We remain fully committed to hosting the 2027 EOC PDF and are aiming for the traditional second week of June. We will discuss further during the EOC Call on April 21. For now, please hold space in your calendars now to avoid conflicts as your attendance is key to event success. Thank you to those EOs who were committed to attending this year's event. As always, we will continue to look for opportunities to support EO collaboration and knowledge sharing during the year.
